A one-person software shop in Amarillo, Texas — Operations, Production, and Publishing under one roof.
I'm Kenneth Jackson, the person behind KennethJackson.Tech. This is a working software shop with three counters: Operations — software that runs businesses, from work orders to real double-entry books; Production — audio, video, and live broadcast from The Woodshed studio; and Publishing — the itK-Publish CMS and SiteKit, the platform serving the page you're reading.
Based in Amarillo, Texas. I work with independent shops, businesses, and creators who want technical depth without a vendor org chart — one person who owns the entire stack, from database to stage.
What I Do
Operations
Software that runs the shop: LogMyRepair — shop management for independent repair shops, built by running two real shops on it — plus operational dashboards, customer portals, native iOS and macOS apps in Swift and SwiftUI, and the IT that keeps it all boring on purpose: servers, networks, backups, and a person who answers, in Amarillo.
Production
From The Woodshed studio: recording, mixing, multi-camera video, podcast production, and complete live event production with real-time streaming. The studio supervises itself — ATEM video, studio audio, and speech-to-text wired into one supervisor — and the same rig assembles thirty-second launch videos automatically.
Publishing
itK-Publish is my headless CMS; SiteKit is the universal site template that consumes it. Change a color, a page, or a form and the site updates in seconds — no rebuilds, no plugins. And when you're ready to leave WordPress, I migrate your content, URLs, and sanity intact.
Why This Combination Works
Most technology professionals specialize narrowly. My practice spans all three counters, and that breadth is the advantage. A repair shop gets work orders and real accounting from the same hands. A business that needs an app backed by a content platform gets cohesive integration from a single developer who owns the entire stack.
The cross-disciplinary experience shapes every project. The attention to user experience that Apple development demands influences how I design interfaces. The real-time constraints of audio DSP inform how I optimize applications. The creative problem-solving required to build instruments and effects carries into every technical decision.
Perhaps most importantly: the tools I build get tested on my own operations first. LogMyRepair runs real shops. This site runs on itK-Publish. Audio tools are stress-tested in actual sessions at The Woodshed. What I deliver has already survived my own use.
Background & Experience
My technical foundation was built managing systems infrastructure in the banking industry during the late '80s and early '90s — securities transaction processing, trust accounting systems, and complex integrations during bank mergers and acquisitions. That experience taught systematic thinking, attention to detail, and the importance of reliability when systems can't fail.
In 1994, I founded Connections Information Systems with a straightforward mission: bring enterprise-quality computing to small businesses. The practice evolved from early web presence on CompuServe in 1992, through the Flash era, to modern web platforms, mobile applications, and cloud infrastructure.
Alongside the business technology work I've kept an active practice in audio production and electronic music — studio work for local musicians that grew into multi-camera video, live streaming infrastructure, and the itK live performance project. The Woodshed studio is where those paths converge, and it's why the Production counter exists.
The Woodshed Studio
The Woodshed serves as both a customer production facility and the shop's R&D lab. The space houses professional recording equipment, multi-camera video infrastructure, live streaming capability, and a deep bench of synthesizers and electronic instruments. It's where customer sessions happen, where live streams originate, and where the boundary between technical work and creative practice dissolves — when the stream is live, this is the room you're watching.
Philosophy
Technology should empower the work, not hinder it. Whether writing code, mixing audio, configuring servers, or patching synthesizers, the goal is systems that work elegantly and let people do their best work.
I believe in understanding the full stack — from low-level DSP to interface design, from database optimization to live performance. The best solutions come from seeing the complete picture, not isolated components.
