Creative technology is where software development, hardware engineering, and electronic music converge. This is the experimental side of KennethJackson.Tech — custom-built instruments, embedded audio systems, modular synthesis, and live electronic music performance that push the boundaries of what’s possible with sound and code.
itK — Live Electronic Music
As itK, I perform live electronic music that combines modular synthesis, hardware instruments, and custom-programmed DSP into real-time sonic exploration. Every performance is improvised and unrepeatable — built from voltage, code, and instinct. The itK project is both a musical practice and a proving ground for the tools and systems I develop.
Performances stream live from The Woodshed studio, featuring multi-camera video production and real-time sound design. Each session showcases the creative possibilities of combining analog circuitry, digital processing, and expressive controllers in ways that blur the line between composition and engineering.

oZm Modular Synthesizer
oZm is a custom Eurorack modular synthesizer system that serves as both a musical instrument and a development platform. The system combines original Mutable Instruments modules with an expanding collection of Behringer recreations known as “The Clone Army,” alongside multiple Electrosmith Daisy modules running custom firmware developed in-house.
What makes oZm unique is the integration of embedded audio development directly into a performance instrument. Custom DSP algorithms — reverbs, delays, granular processors, and experimental effects — get loaded onto Daisy modules, patched into the modular system, and tested in live performance. The feedback loop between writing code and hearing it interact with analog circuitry in real-time drives both the music and the technology forward.
The system also includes hardware synthesizers like the Expressive E Osmose (MPE polyphonic aftertouch controller), Yamaha MX-88 (88-key workstation), and Moog Messenger for classic analog tones. Percussion comes from both acoustic drums (Aja — Yamaha Recording Custom kit) and a custom modular drum machine (Eja — built from Erica Synths modules).

Hardware Development
The hardware development program extends the creative technology work into physical product design. I design and build custom audio hardware powered by the Electrosmith Daisy platform — bridging the gap between embedded systems engineering and musical instrument design.
Skateboard-P — DSP Effects Pedal
Skateboard-P is a programmable DSP effects pedal built around the Electrosmith Daisy Seed. Currently in active development, the project has evolved through multiple hardware revisions — from a basic potentiometer-and-toggle design to a full-featured platform with OLED display, rotary encoder, buffered stereo I/O, relay-based true bypass, and TRS Mini MIDI I/O. The pedal runs custom audio effects algorithms and can be reprogrammed via USB for unlimited sonic possibilities.
Skateboard-E — Eurorack Module
Skateboard-E brings the same Daisy-powered programmable DSP approach into Eurorack format, designed to integrate directly with the oZm modular system and other Eurorack setups. Currently in the design phase.

The Intersection
Creative technology at KennethJackson.Tech isn’t a separate discipline — it’s the thread that connects everything else. The audio plugins I develop in JUCE get tested through oZm in live performance. The embedded DSP code I write for Daisy ships inside hardware I design and build. The live streaming infrastructure I maintain powers the itK broadcasts. And the systems administration expertise keeps it all running reliably.
This tight integration between building tools and using them in creative practice means the technology I develop is informed by actual artistic use, not just technical specifications. When you work with me on a creative technology project, you’re getting someone who understands the full chain from algorithm to audience.
