The Woodshed is a project studio in Amarillo, Texas, built for audio production, video production, live streaming, and electronic music performance. It’s both a professional production facility and a laboratory for creative technology exploration.

The Space
The Woodshed started as the kind of space every musician and technologist dreams about — a dedicated room to make noise, experiment, and build things without worrying about bothering anyone. Over the years it has grown into a fully equipped production environment where client projects, live streams, and creative experimentation all happen under the same roof.
The studio is configured for multiple workflows. A recording session in the morning, a live stream in the afternoon, and plugin development in the evening — the room stays set up and ready to go. That flexibility is intentional. When tools are always within reach, creative momentum doesn’t get lost to setup time.
Audio Production
The audio side of The Woodshed is built around professional monitoring, a curated collection of microphones and preamps, and a flexible routing system that handles everything from solo vocal tracking to multi-instrument sessions. The studio runs multiple DAWs depending on the project: Ableton Live for electronic production and live performance, Bitwig Studio for sound design and modular integration, Logic Pro for traditional recording and mixing, and Max/MSP for custom audio processing and experimental work.
Post-production tools include Pro Tools for session work, iZotope RX for audio restoration, and a collection of processing plugins from Waves, FabFilter, and others. Whether the project is a music recording, podcast, sound design for video, or audio mastering, the signal chain is built to deliver clean, professional results.

Video Production & Live Streaming
The Woodshed maintains a permanent multi-camera video setup designed for both in-studio production and live streaming. The system supports real-time switching, graphics integration, and simultaneous output to YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, and custom RTMP destinations. For studio sessions, the cameras stay positioned and ready — no setup delay between deciding to stream and going live.
Video post-production runs through DaVinci Resolve for editing and color work, with OBS Studio and dedicated switching hardware handling the live production side. The same system that powers weekly itK live streams also handles client video projects, from promotional content to podcast recording with multi-camera coverage.

The Instruments
The Woodshed houses an extensive collection of electronic and acoustic instruments that serve both creative performance and client production work.
oZm Modular Synthesizer
The centerpiece of the studio is oZm, a custom Eurorack modular synthesizer that continues to grow and evolve. The system combines original Mutable Instruments modules with an expanding collection of Behringer recreations affectionately known as “The Clone Army” — including the 2-XM, 2600, Brains (Plaits clone), Halos (Rings clone), Abacus (Maths clone), 130-Duel VCA, 173-Quad Gate/Multiples, 172-Phase Shifter, 150-Ring Modulator/Noise/S&H/LFO, 305-EQ/Mixer/Output, and Fourplay Quad VCA. The Mutable Instruments side includes Links and Polend Poly2.
The modular system also serves as a platform for embedded audio development. Multiple Electrosmith Daisy modules — including the Daisy Patch, Daisy Patch Init, and the itK-Skateboard (a custom Daisy Patch Init clone) — run custom-programmed audio effects and synthesis algorithms developed in-house. This is where audio effects development meets real-world testing.
Hardware Synthesizers
Beyond the modular rack, the studio features the Yamaha MX-88 (an 88-key workstation providing piano, orchestral voices, and MIDI control), the Expressive E Osmose (an MPE controller with polyphonic aftertouch and per-note expression), and the Moog Messenger for classic analog synthesis tones.
Percussion
Acoustic percussion comes from Aja, a Yamaha Recording Custom drum kit. Electronic percussion is handled by Eja, a custom-built modular drum machine assembled from Erica Synths modules including the .Edu Kick and .Edu Snare — bringing the same modular philosophy from oZm into rhythmic territory.
Strings
The studio keeps a Fender Stratocaster, Martin Baby Martin acoustic guitar, and Fender Precision Bass on hand for tracking sessions and creative exploration.
Development Lab
The Woodshed isn’t just a production studio — it’s also where software gets built and tested. Audio plugins developed in JUCE and Max/MSP get tested against real instruments and real production workflows before they ship. Custom DSP algorithms written for Electrosmith Daisy modules get loaded, patched into oZm, and put through their paces in live performance. This tight loop between development and production means the tools I build are informed by actual use, not just theory.
The same environment supports iOS and macOS app development, with audio-focused applications getting real-world testing alongside the production work. When a client needs an audio processing tool, a custom plugin, or an embedded audio system, the development and testing all happen here.
Live from The Woodshed
The studio is home to regular live streams where I perform as itK — creating electronic music in real-time using the full instrument collection. These sessions combine improvisation, modular synthesis, and live multi-camera production into a single broadcast. It’s equal parts musical performance, technical demonstration, and community gathering for electronic music enthusiasts and gear explorers.
