Chuck Yeager Breaks the Sound Barrier

On October 14, 1947, Captain Charles Elwood Yeager broke the sound barrier flying the X-1 Glamorous Glennis at Mach 1.05 to an altitude of 45,000 feet (13,700 m) at the Rodgers Dry Lake.
